The Nuclear Science and Engineering and the Атомная энергия ( Atom Well energija ), both first published in 1956, are the two oldest journals in their field. The journal, initially published under the full title Nuclear science and engineering / American Nuclear Society , later under Nuclear science and engineering: the international research journal of the American Nuclear Society , describes itself as a leading source of information for basic and applied research in all scientific fields related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy for the benefit of all. Technical articles, brief technical notes, critical reviews, quick releases, book reviews, and letters to the editor are published.
The bibliometric evaluation parameter impact factor for this magazine had the following values: 1,060 (2018), the five-year Impact Factor 0.954 (2018) quotes per item .
Conception of the magazine
The publisher specifies the following subject areas for which the journal is relevant:
- Basic physics as far as it relates to nuclear systems
- Theoretical physics
- Radiation physics
- Reactor physics
- Nuclear criticality
- Nuclear data and nuclear reactions
- Neutron transport
- Analysis and modeling of the reactor core
- Uncertainty analysis
- Reactor and fuel optimization
- Transient Analysis
- Fluid dynamics / multiphase flow
- Heat transfer
- Fission product yield
- Waste products
- Burning of nuclear fuel
The magazine covers part of the topics of the magazine Атомная энергия ( Atomnaja energija ).
Formats of the articles
A distinction is made between six formats of contributions to the journal, which have already been named. This means in detail the following:
- A technical articles ( technical paper ) is an original contribution to the field of knowledge.
- A technical note or a technical note ( technical notes ) describes preliminary results or limited extensions of previously published work.
- A critical review articles ( critical review ), however, combines an overview of a subject with a comprehensive literature review to the prior art, critically evaluate, the region adds not necessarily add new knowledge.
- A fast communication ( Rapid communication ) enables rapid publication of innovative work of high and immediate interest to the readership of the magazine, after an accelerated review and processing.
- A book review ( Book review ) gives an overview of a recently published book subject-specific, including a brief summary and an assessment (evaluation) for the community.
- A letter to the editor ( Letter to the editor ) provides a fast medium for comments on editorial policies and for discussions on the content of other posts.
