The Nuclear Technology (NT) ( German nuclear technology ) is the leading international journal that reports on new developments in all areas of practical application of nuclear science . The topics include all aspects of nuclear technology : operation, safety, instrumentation, fuel and waste management. Medical applications , radiation detection, radiation generation, health physics and computer applications are also covered . The name of the journal was Nuclear Applications from 1965 to 1969 and Nuclear Applications and Technology from 1969 to 1970 .
The bibliometric evaluation parameter impact factor for this magazine had the following values: 0,953 (2018), the five-year Impact Factor 0.886 (2018) citations per article .
Conception of the magazine
The publisher specifies the following subject areas for which the journal is relevant:
- Nuclear reactor engineering , design, operation, safety , thermal hydraulics , instrumentation, neutronics , fuel , licensing, economics and waste management, including existing and planned reactors
- Design, operation and economy of fuel cycles and their systems
- Safety and incident analysis
- Techniques and applications related to non-proliferation and their verification
- Radiation detection and measurement
- Computer applications in the nuclear industry
- Radiation protection
- Nuclear risk management
- Technology of fuel cycles
- Disposal of radioactive waste
- Materials science in the nuclear industry
- Health Physics ( English Health physics , science of radiation protection )
- Isotope production
- Medical Applications of Nuclear Science
The sister journals Nuclear Science and Engineering and Fusion Science and Technology are also published by the American Nuclear Society . All three together cover the subject areas of the magazine Атомная энергия (Atomnaja energija) .
Formats of the articles
A distinction is made between six formats of contributions to the journal, which have already been named. This means in detail the following:
- A technical articles ( technical paper ) is an original contribution to the field of knowledge.
- A technical note or a technical note ( technical notes ) describes preliminary results or limited extensions of previously published work.
- A critical review articles ( critical review ), however, combines an overview of a subject with a comprehensive literature review to the prior art, critically evaluate, the region adds not necessarily add new knowledge.
- A fast communication ( Rapid communication ) enables rapid publication of innovative work of high and immediate interest to the readership of the magazine, after an accelerated review and processing.
- A book review ( Book review ) gives an overview of a recently published book subject-specific, including a brief summary and an assessment (evaluation) for the community.
- A letter to the editor ( Letter to the editor ) provides a fast medium for comments on editorial policies and for discussions on the content of other posts.
