life and career

Dhabitah learned to swim at the age of seven, but soon afterwards her father, a teacher, noticed that she was physically more of a high diver than a swimmer. At the age of eight she finally began her career as a high diver, initially taking part in regional and later in national and international competitions.

She completed her first major event in 2013 when, at the age of 14, she competed in the 10 m synchronized jumping at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw together with Mun Yee Leong, who was twice her age . There the two were able to clearly prevail against the competition in five competitions and achieved 67.20 points in the last competition, 15 points more than their closest rival Indonesia . In the end, the Malaysian duo won the gold medal with over 40 points ahead of Myanmar , Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore .

Six months later, the young water diver, now 15, took part in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , where she competed in the 3-meter jump for women , in the 3-meter synchronized jump for women and in the 10-meter synchronized jump for women Ladies competed. She achieved 292.35 points in the qualification for the 3-meter jumping and thus secured herself in seventh place in the later main competition, in which she was eliminated in eleventh place and thus penultimate with 284.20 points. In her favorite discipline, synchronized jumping, the young Malaysian took part in the 3-meter synchronized jumping together with Ng Yan Yee, who was six years her senior , with the team coming in sixth and last place behind compatriots Cheong Jun Hoong and Loh Zhiayi .

On the other hand, things went better for Dhabitah in the 10-meter synchronized jumping , where she competed alongside the successful Pandelela Rinong Pamg . The two of them were able to prevail before their compatriots Mun Yee Leong and Cheong Jun Hoong and achieved the bronze medal with 300.12 points behind Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion from Canada (gold) and Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch from England (silver). The two Australians Rachel Bugg and Melissa Wu ranked fifth and last . The young Malaysian, who sees Bryan Lomas as her role model, has set herself the goal of participating in the Summer Olympics .
