Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival

The Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival (NIHRFF) ( English for "International Nuremberg Film Festival of Human Rights") is an international film festival that has taken place every two years since 1999 . The festival will take place following the presentation of the Nuremberg International Human Rights Prize in October.

Germany's oldest and largest festival of its kind offers a forum for committed fiction , documentary and animated films from all over the world that deal with human rights issues . A selection of the films takes part in the competition for the “Nuremberg Film Prize for Human Rights”. The members of the Board of Trustees include Doris Dörrie and Volker Schlöndorff . Michael Ballhaus , Ken Loach , Michael Verhoeven and Katja Riemann have been the patrons to date .

The main prizes are awarded in three categories; the Human Rights Film Prize , which is endowed with € 2500, the Audience Prize and the Prize of the Open Eyes Youth Jury , each endowed with € 1000.

The 8th film festival took place from October 2 to October 9, 2013.

2015

The 9th film festival took place from September 30th to October 7th, 2015. 58 films from 39 nations were selected from a total of 730 films submitted from 113 countries. The winners were announced on October 6th.

2017

The 10th film festival took place from September 27th to October 4th, 2017.
