Nurmagomed Magomedsandowitsch Schanawasow ( Russian : Нурмагомед Магомедсандович Шанавазов; born February 19, 1965 in Makhachkala , Dagestani ASSR ) is a former Russian boxer . Shanavazov was European champion in 1985 , silver medalist at the 1988 Olympic Games and bronze medalist at the 1989 World Championships .

Career

Schanawasow won the youth competition of friendship in 1983 in the junior division (U19) in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg).

In 1985 Schanawasow won the national elimination bouts and was able to take part in the European championships, which he won after victories a. a. over Pero Tadić , Yugoslavia (5-0), and Markus Bott , Germany (RSC 3rd), won.
