Club career

Coaching career
From 1999 to 2003 Sağlam worked as an assistant trainer at Gaziantepspor . In January 2003 he was promoted to head coach. At the end of the 2004/05 season, Sağlam left Gaziantepspor. For the 2005/06 season he was set at Karşıyaka SK , but he was dismissed after the 5th game day. He returned to Denizlispor in the Süper Lig that same season . With the club, Sağlam reached not only relegation on the last matchday against Fenerbahçe Istanbul , but also prevented his opponent from winning the championship. Despite the success Sağlam left Denizlispor in the following season and trained from then on Konyaspor .
In February 2008 he returned to Gaziantepspor and worked there until March 2009. There was another return for Sağlam. He took over the head coach position at Denizlispor for the second time. He started his job on September 12, 2009 and was fired eight weeks later due to unsuccessfulness.
In October 2010, Sağlam became a coach at Mersin İdman Yurdu . In the 2010/11 season he and his team won the TFF 1st Lig championship and, after 29 years, promotion to the Süper Lig . Immediately after the 2-1 home win against Akhisar Belediyespor , it was announced that the contract with Sağlam was terminated by mutual agreement. Four days later, Giray Bulak was introduced as his successor .
For the 2014/15 season, Sağlam took over the second division side of his hometown, Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor . After he got off to an unexpectedly bad start to the season with his club despite large investments in the team squad, Sağlam resigned after the 0-1 home defeat on the 7th match day against Şanlıurfaspor .
