The Oberalpreuss is a 5 kilometer long river in the Urserental in the canton of Uri . It lies entirely in the territory of the municipality of Andermatt , flows from the Oberalpsee mostly in a south-westerly direction and flows into the Unteralpreuss from the right just above the village of Andermatt . The Oberalpreuss, which is rich in fish, is followed almost along its entire course by the Swiss main road 19 and the Oberalp route of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway .
course
The river rises to 2027 m above sea level. M. located Oberalpsee , which lies a little below the top of the Oberalppass west of the watershed to the Vorderrhein . The lake is fed by several short mountain streams, of which the Hinterfellibach is the longest and richest in water. At the Oberalp and the little north of it transition of Tiarmspasses small streams flow from the area of Grisons Municipality Tujetsch in the Oberalpsee. After leaving the lake, the Oberalpreuss initially meanders through the high valley of the Oberalp with open pastures. The spring-rich area is partly protected as a flat moor of national importance under the name Zu den Staflen .
On the Oberalp, the Oberalpreuss also takes in the water from the Lutersee, which is located in a depression above the valley . From the Bödemli corridor , the river cuts increasingly deeper into the valley floor, still meandering strongly. The 17 meter high Schöni dam of the Ursern electricity works, completed in 1961, forms a lake with a storage volume of 20,000 m³. The river now reaches the tree line and forms up to its confluence with the Unteralpreuss, which is about three times as rich in water, at the Oberalp hydropower plant at 1,462 m above sea level. M. a steep, ravine-like valley.
