The regional management Upper Franconia Offensiv eV . is a regional network to ensure the sustainability of the Upper Franconia region .
The association was founded in 1994 as a reaction to the changed geopolitical circumstances in Upper Franconia. Upper Franconia Offensive is one of the oldest regional management associations. In 2007 the two associations "Forum Zukunft Oberfranken" and "Oberfranken Offensiv eV" merged - the last name change to "Oberfranken Offensiv eV" took place on February 1st, 2012.
The initial 37 founding members have grown to over 300 members, making Oberfranken Offensiv eV the second largest regional initiative in Germany. The members of the association are Upper Franconian municipalities, associations, chambers of commerce, companies, universities, initiatives and private individuals. The focus of the work of Oberfranken Offensiv eV is to support the regional and municipal development of Upper Franconia.
The association deals with issues of population development in Upper Franconia and the strengthening of Upper Franconia as a livable, family-friendly region. For this purpose, an image process for Upper Franconia was initiated in November 2009 and an umbrella brand was developed. The main focus here should be on improving the quality of life and health. The promotion of the so-called soft location factors is a main concern of the association.
Well over 50 projects and concepts have been implemented in the past few years. In addition, the association is involved in regional and structural policy issues, for example in the identification of funding frameworks within the framework of European structural policy , in the design of the Upper Franconia model region in the area of demographic change or in transport projects that are important for Upper Franconia.

The association pursues a variety of different goals with its activities, all of which are intended to bring about progress in the Upper Franconia region.

- Strengthening the sustainable, independent development of the individual areas

The association uses the regional management tool to achieve its goals:
- Improvement of the internal and external perception of the region
- Strengthening the Upper Franconian identity and regional self-confidence
- Increased awareness of the Upper Franconian region and its qualities
- Systematic, interdisciplinary project and network work
- Coordination, motivation and moderation of the communication process between representatives from business, politics and administration
- Development of action programs
Ongoing projects - the image process
With the elements of the new umbrella brand, the region is taking the first step to present itself in the European competition of the regions as an attractive living space with a future. The aim is to bundle the future communicative and visual appearance of the region itself and as many companies and activities as possible under the umbrella brand.

The family portal
The Internet portal Familienland-Oberfranken is intended as an information and participation portal for all people who live in Upper Franconia or are thinking of coming here.
Active region of Upper Franconia
In recent years, several cycle routes and mountain bike routes have been created and upgraded in quality. In the coming years, the active region is to be expanded to include canoeing.
Structure dialog
The topic of structural change covers various areas, including demographic change , future development of rural areas and future care of general practitioners in rural areas. The dialogue series "Structural Change in Upper Franconia" addresses these issues. Congresses are held on the various problem areas in order to show the decision-makers and the population of Upper Franconia the urgency of the problems.
Upper Franconian Innovation Prize
The Upper Franconian Innovation Prize, first awarded in 1999, is one of the most attractive and most highly endowed regional innovation prizes in Germany. The prize has been awarded so far in 1999, 2001, 2004, 2007/2008 and 2011. Both scientific and technological innovations as well as product, process, process and service innovations can take part in the competition. The award is given to the degree of novelty, market relevance and structural importance. The aim of the innovation award is to present the innovative strength of Upper Franconia and its companies.
Young people research Upper Franconia
Since the 1st regional competition “Jugend forscht Oberfranken” was held at the University of Bayreuth in 2002 , the Upper Franconian competition has continuously developed into one of the largest regional competitions in Bavaria and Germany. So far, “ Jugend forscht ” in Upper Franconia has been a success story and is on a growth path. It is a particular concern of the sponsors to motivate young people in industrial training to take part in the competition.
Light design in Upper Franconia
In connection with the revitalization of inner cities and the design of squares and parks, lighting design is becoming increasingly important in terms of urban development and, with regard to its experimental use, is of great importance for the scientific reorientation of the fields of architecture and civil engineering. However, light is not just a design tool , it can also be used in a targeted manner to reduce energy consumption and light pollution . Modern and innovative lighting concepts also make cities safer and more accessible !
Health region
As part of the structural change dialogue series, the topic of “medical care in rural areas” was explicitly referred to. Upper Franconia prevents a possible shortage of doctors in the coming years. Therefore u. a. supports the advanced training initiative of the Lichtenfels Clinic.
Future workshop
Basically, the future workshop is about developing strategies for action in the important subject areas and projects in Upper Franconia. This is intended to show possible synergies between the individual institutions but also between Upper Franconia, the state, the federal government and the EU . Important individual projects should also be defined and possible funding opportunities identified.
Media award
In 2011, Oberfranken Offensiv eV, together with the Academy for New Media and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Upper Franconia, launched the “1. Upper Franconian Media Prize ". A total of 108 contributions were submitted in the print, radio and television categories.
Cooperation "P seminars"
Cooperation with the Graf-Münster Gymnasium Bayreuth to hold the mandatory P and W seminars.
