GEZ hoax
Several false reports have been circulating on the Internet since 1999 , according to which, according to a decision by the Augsburg Higher Regional Court, broadcasters would be entitled to reimbursement of license fees; the BGH would also have confirmed this decision. Since then, both the GEZ and the BGH have regularly pointed out that there is neither an Augsburg Higher Regional Court nor a corresponding decision. The result of the joke were hundreds of thousands of unjustified requests for reimbursement - almost 800,000 in the years 2000 and 2001 alone - that had to be processed and answered by the GEZ.
