Josef von Schmitt

Josef von Schmitt (born February 6, 1817 in Wiesentheid , Lower Franconia , † April 25, 1890 in Augsburg ) was a German judge in Bavaria .

Life

After graduating from high school in Würzburg , Josef von Schmitt enrolled as a student on October 29, 1835. phil. at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . Since November 19, 1835 Fuchs with the Corps Bavaria Würzburg , he was reciprocated on April 30, 1836 . When he was inactive , he switched from philology to law . In the summer semester of 1838 he went to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he passed the university examination in 1839. After doing a legal internship in Karlstadthad been, he passed the state examination in Würzburg in 1842 . After working as a certified legal intern, he became a district and city judge in Aschaffenburg (1848) and Würzburg (1850) in 1848. In Würzburg he was district judge (1857), in Aschaffenburg district court director (1858), appeals judge (1859) and higher appellate judge (1867). In 1873 he came to the court of appeal in Augsburg as first director , and in 1879 to the higher regional court in Munich as president of the senate . In the same year he was raised to the personal nobility by being awarded a medal, and in 1885 he was appointed President of the Augsburg Higher Regional Court. He retired in the three emperor's year . He died at the age of 73 and was buried in Augsburg.

He is not related to his corps brother of the same name, Josef von Schmitt .
