Horní Žandov (German: Upper Sandau ) is a district of the municipality Dolní Žandov in the Czech Republic, which is located in the Eger district.

geography

Geographical location

Horní Žandov is about one kilometer south of Dolní Žandov ( Lower Sandau ) and about five kilometers east of Palič ( Palitz ).

Neighboring communities

Two and a half kilometers south is Vysoká ( Maiersgrün ), and about four kilometers east is Lázně Kynžvart (Bad Königswart ). In the southeast of Ober Sandau, about three and a half kilometers away, there is also the village of Stará Voda ( Altwasser ).

The first written mention of the village comes from 1367.

Until 1945 Unter Sandau was predominantly populated by German Bohemia , which were expelled.
