Depending on the system, several subspecies are distinguished. In 2005, Wilson & Reeder assigned the four subspecies Od durica , Od annectens , Od bedfordi and Od mursavi to the species with the nominate form . Andrei Alexandrovich Lissowski differs in the Handbook of the Mammals of the World, however, three subspecies and next Od dauurica as another subspecies Od latibullata and Od huangensis , which was still considered as a separate species by Wilson & Reeder of 2005.
