Oded Kattash ( Hebrew עודד קטש; * October 10, 1974 in Ramat Gan , Israel ) is a former Israeli basketball player and current coach.

Player career

Club career

Kattash, who played in the position of point guard , began his professional career in 1992 with Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan. After a season he moved to Hapoel Galil Elyon in the Upper Galilean Kfar Blum . After two more seasons, he moved to the dominant Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv , with whom he was able to win three championships and one cup. In 1998 Kattash moved to the top Greek club Panathinaikos Athens . With the Greeks he won two championships in a row and in 2000, alongside players like Fragiskos Alvertis , Dejan Bodiroga , Željko Rebrača , or Michael Koch , the most important success of his career was the European Cup . After a serious knee injury, Kattash had to end his active career in 2001 at the age of only 27.

National team

For the Israeli national team , Kattash was active from 1993 to 1999. During this period he took part in the 1997 European Championships.

Coaching career

Kattash's first station as a coach was Hapoel Gilboa Galil Elyon, who he took over at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season and trained for three years. In 2007 he was signed by Maccabi Tel Aviv and made his debut with the multiple European League winner in the ULEB Euroleague . After mixed performances in the national championship and in the Euroleague, he was released on January 1, 2008. For the following season, Kattash was again coach of Hapoel Galil Elyon, who merged with Hapoel Gilboa and moved to the Gan Ner Sports Hall . In the second season they beat series champion Maccabi Tel Aviv in the championship finals in 2010 and won the championship for the fusion club. Then Kattash moved to Hapoel Jerusalem and took over the coaching position of the Israeli national team. In 2012, after two seasons without any notable success, he ended his engagement with the Jerusalem club and moved to Hapoel Eilat, who returned to the first division.
