Odunayo Adekuoroye began wrestling as a teenager at Adegrola Memorial Grammar School in Akure. Your great role model is the former world wrestler Daniel Igali , who comes from Nigeria but competed for Canada. She has been part of the national wrestling team of Nigeria since 2010 and is coached by Akuh Purity.

She achieved her first international success in April 2010 when she became the African champion of the age group “Cadets” in the weight class up to 49 kg in Cairo. In October 2010 she was used by the Nigerian Wrestling Association at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in the weight class up to 48 kg. She took an excellent third place there and only had to give way to Olympic champion Carol Huynh from Canada and Davi Nirmala from India.

In September 2011 she competed at the World Cup in Istanbul. In the weight class up to 51 kg, she lost her first fight against Maria Ivanova from Belarus just on points. Since Maria Ivanova did not reach the final, she had to retire and be satisfied with 14th place.

In 2012, Odunayo Adekuoroye came in second at the African Championships in Marrakech in the weight class up to 55 kg behind Marwa Amri from Tunisia. However, she could not qualify for participation in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In 2013 she finished second at the African Championships in N'Djamena in the weight class up to 51 kg behind Isabelle Sambou from Senegal. In December 2013 she succeeded in the Commonwealth Championships in Johannesburg in the same weight class, the victory over the Indian Vinesh.

She won in Las Vegas in the weight class up to 53 kg over Natalja Malyschewa from Russia and Lilija Horischna from Ukraine, then she lost in the quarterfinals to Sofia Mattsson from Sweden, but then secured herself with victories over Nadezhda Schuschko from Belarus and Zhong Xuechon from China a bronze medal. One week after this success she also won the All Africa Games in Brazzaville in the weight class up to 53 kg ahead of Isabelle Sambou and Parfonite Mambou, Congo.
