Oettingen (German-Baltic noble family)
Oettingen is the name of an originally from Westphalia originating German-Baltic noble family . The family is not related to the Princely House of Oettingen (Franconian-Swabian noble family) .
history
The first-time documentary mention made at the end of the 15th century with Dirick Ottynck in Zehntregister the monastery above water in today's district Borken , while Lambert Ottingh is 1,480 citizens in Tallinn on 17 November. The family line begins in 1548 with Ewert Otting - businessman, senior man of the Great Guild , councilor and later mayor in Riga , who dies in 1581 as bailiff.
On June 27, 1687 took place ennoblement of Johann Oettingen councilor in Riga, mayors and - Konsistorialpräsident - by King Charles XI. from Sweden than from Oettingen . In 1745 it was entered in the register of the Livonian knighthood .
