Ogris Debris

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ogris Debris is an Austrian electronic music band . The duo, founded in 2005, consists of Gregor Ladenhauf and Daniel Kohlmeigner. They became known for their track Kiezekatze , released in 2010 .

history

Kohlmeigner and Ladenhauf met each other in 2003. Both were already experimenting with electronic music on their laptops . In various constellations with musicians, they made their first live performances with danceable electronic music. In 2005, the name Ogris Debris came about through a spontaneous posting ("Ogris") including an answer ( Debris , English for "rubble, rubble") in an online chat between the two of them. Their first release, G-Thong / Hide Open , took place in 2008 on the Munich independent label Compost Records , where their second record, Raid The Itch / G-Thong Rmxs , was also released in 2009 .

The compositions in the music programs and on the synthesizers are created jointly, while Ladenhauf is responsible for the vocals. Much comes from spontaneous ideas and feelings, including Kitty , which was originally intended to be created as a deep house track without vocals . The track was released in 2010 on the Estrela label on the EP Bobohemian Phatsody , which is ironically laid out in the title (with reference to " Bobos "). Thanks to the onomatopoeic “Kitty” spoken over the track, the song quickly achieved cult status in the club scene. The track attracted attention in several programs on the Austrian youth broadcaster FM4 , such as the weekly radio show Davidecks specializing in electronic music and the weekday remix and DJ program Unlimited . British radio DJ Gilles Peterson , program designer for Worldwide on BBC Radio 1 , also played the track, making the duo internationally known. In 2010 Ogris Debris was nominated for the Austrian Amadeus Music Prize in the “Electronic / Dance” category.

In 2010 the second EP, Aery , was released this time on the Vienna label Affine Records.
