Ohlendorf is a village in the town of Hemmingen in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .

history

Ohlendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1185; However, based on excavations, it is suspected that it existed as a Saxon settlement Ebbingehusen, which was abandoned, before the turn of the millennium. In Ohlendorf there is a special feature that the number of farms has remained almost constant over the past 400 years; the courtyards that existed in 1585 (three full Meier , two half Meier and one Kotten ) still exist today. Numerous families living in Hanover also owe their family names to the place.

On March 1, 1974, Ohlendorf was incorporated into the new municipality of Hemmingen.

Ohlendorf is represented at the municipal level by the City Council of Hemmingen.

coat of arms

The Ohlendorf municipal coat of arms was designed by the heraldist and graphic artist Alfred Brecht , who designed all the coats of arms in the Hanover region. The approval of the coat of arms was granted on April 16, 1964 by the district president in Hanover.

Foundation of the coat of arms: On the assumption that the farms in Ohlendorf only included around 100 hectares of cultivated arable land more than 300 years ago, but that the forest dominated the landscape, of which a considerable remnant is still today, the heraldist submitted to the council of the community the designs for a coat of arms, which connects the deer antlers with the lion, which indicates the supremacy of the Guelph dukes, which is supposed to symbolize the forest here.
