The Ohrnbach is a brook over 2 km long in the municipality of Kupferzell in Hohenlohekreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows south-southeast of the eponymous village of the municipality from the right into the upper Kupfer .

geography

course

The Ohrnbach rises on the border of the Goggenbacher and Feßbacher suburbs of Kupferzell in the northeast arch of the K 2366 Goggenbach – Kupferzell between the Aussiedlerhof im Gewann Im Breitholz von Feßbach and the Friedrichshof im Gewann Zimmer von Goggenbach at about 374  m above sea level. NN . Initially just a ditch at the edge of the field, it is on about the first half of its course Grenzbach between the Feßbacher and Goggenbacher districts. It flows very steadily southwest. Where his course steps next to a dirt road, from which it does not deviate almost to the mouth, the forest strip Ghäu begins on the left bank , which accompanies it for almost two thirds of its course. At this tree line, the mostly straight run shows small turns over a short section. From the end of the accompanying forest, the under half a kilometer long lower course was renatured by the city of Kupferzell across the open corridor and through the wide floodplain of the Kupfer in 2015. The Ohrnbach flows shortly after the tributary of the Goggenbach and almost opposite the Rinnenbach below the river crossing of the K 2367 Goggenbach – Hesselbronn at about 331  m above sea level. NHN in the copper.

The 2.3 km long Ohrnbach with a mean bed gradient of about 19 ‰ flows about 43 meters below its origin. It has no significant inflows.

Catchment area

The Ohrnbach drains about 1.1 km² of the sub-area Kupferzeller Ebene and Kocheneck of the Hohenloher and Haller Ebene natural area . The two highest points are at the southeast corner of its catchment area on the Schindwasen , where over 398  m above sea level. NN can be reached, as well as at the northeast corner at 391  m above sea level. NN , where outside the bend of the K 2366 the Feldgewann Breitholz meets the Bachenstein forest outside. The share of around 17 hectares in the Ghäu is the only forest in the catchment area that otherwise consists almost exclusively of large, land-adjusted arable land; only on its last 150 meters over the flat floodplain of the copper does the brook run in a meadow. Slightly less than half counts towards the Goggenbach suburbs, a little more than half towards Feßbacher, at the very end there is only a narrow strip of the Kupferzell suburbs of the municipality of Kupferzell on the right. The only two settlement areas are the two Aussiedlerhöfe mentioned in the course at the origin.

A short piece of northwestern watershed begins at the mouth, beyond which the drainage reaches the copper below. On the longer, northern section of the watershed to the right of the Ohrnbach, however, the water on the opposite side flows over the Feßbach into the Kupfer below. The again only short section of the catchment area border in the east between the two highest points borders on that of the Bachensteiner Bach , whose water reaches the Kocher via the Rüblinger Bach and the Eschentaler Bach far above the Ohrnbach receiving stream Kupfer . The left watershed in the south and southwest through the Ghäu borders almost to the last on the drainage area of the Goggenbach , which flows into the Kupfer after a more westerly run along the other side of the Ghäus about a quarter of a kilometer above the Ohrnbach.

geology

The Ohrnbach rises at the edge of a large, Quaternary deposited loess sediment island that occupies the surrounding hills. Below is the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt Formation ), the only regional layer of the Unterkeuper , which covers the entire rest of the catchment area down to the mouth. The shell limestone , which builds up the subsoil of the flat, hilly Hohenlohe plain and is responsible for the poorly profiled relief, is only exposed outside the catchment area, closest to the deeper valley of the Eschentaler Bach with its tributaries Bachensteiner Bach and Rüblinger Bach in the east.
