Goggenbach is a district and a village in the municipality of Kupferzell in Hohenlohekreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg .

location

The village of Goggenbach, the only settlement area in the district, is about three and a half kilometers southeast of the center of the village of Kupferzell and a little over a kilometer northwest of Eschental at an altitude of 376  m above sea level. NHN on the so-called Kupferzeller level, part of the natural area of the Hohenlohe and Hall level . The place is a little on this side of the watershed between the Kupfer in the west and the Eschentaler Bach in the east. A Goggenbach arises in the local area and runs to the Kupfer, a shorter Goggenbach , which rises northeast of the town in the district, drains into the Eschentaler Bach.

The place was first mentioned in 1345. There is no documented evidence or archaeological findings about the settlement of the Goggenbach valley. As the feudal people of the von Hohenlohe family , the lords of Bachenstein were landlords. In 1488 this local rule and property were sold to Hohenlohe. In 1553 the place fell to Hohenlohe-Neuenstein, in 1806 it came to the patrimonial office of Kupferzell. In 1809 Goggenbach came to the mayor's office in Kupferzell, part of the Oberamt Öhringen . The village belonged to the Westernach Schultheißenamt from 1813. In 1823 Goggenbach, Eschental and Einweiler merged to form one municipality, which was dissolved in 1826. The now independent municipality of Goggenbach came in 1938 to the Hall district .

As part of the regional reform, the municipality of Goggenbach merged on January 1, 1972 with the municipalities of Eschental , Feßbach , Kupferzell, Mangoldsall and Westernach to form the new municipality of Kupferzell and thus moved to the district of Öhringen , which became part of the Hohenlohe district with the district reform in 1973 .
