history

Oklahoma City has been home to professional baseball teams with changing names such as Mets, Indians, Senators and Boosters since 1904 for a few years. The current franchise was founded in 1962 as the Oklahoma City 89ers and played as the triple-A team of the Houston .45, the predecessor of today's Houston Astros . In 1983, the team moved to the Texas Rangers and renamed the Oklahoma City RedHawks in 1998. In the same year the team moved to the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, which is still used as a venue today. For the 2015 season, the team arranged a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers and has since played for the franchise under the name Oklahoma City Dodgers.
