Ola Rydstrand (born September 19, 1955 in Västerås ) is a former Swedish football player . In 135 games in the Allsvenskan , the dangerous midfielder scored 24 goals, and he also scored six goals in 25 second division games.

career

In his youth, Rydstrand also played ice hockey and bandy in addition to soccer . With Västerås SK he was twice Swedish youth champion. He made his debut for IFK Västerås as a 14-year-old in the men's team, which was in Division 3 at the time. From there he moved to the reigning Swedish champions Åtvidabergs FF before the 1973 season . With the club he was able to defend the title and subsequently played in the European Cup . After the club had to go into the second division three years later, he moved to Örebro SK .

Rydstrand also played against relegation at his new employer. Although his first goal for ÖSK only came on the seventh matchday, he was subsequently able to enter the goalscorer list several times and scored seven goals this season. In his second season he proved to be even more accurate and scored ten goals. Nevertheless, he had to end the season on a relegation zone for the second time in his career and Rydstrand moved again within the Swedish elite series.

Rydstrand switched to the then eight-time AIK master . The traditional club had degenerated into a gray mouse at the time and only played in the back of the table. Also in the 1979 season , Rdystrand had to fight relegation. He had to help out as a goalkeeper in the game against Kalmar FF on September 23, 1979 : The goalkeeper Ulf Jakobsson was expelled from the field 20 minutes before the end of the game after an assault and Rdystrand had to take the place between the posts in a 3-2 lead by AIK . He conceded two goals and AIK lost the game 3-4. At the end of the season, five goals of the season Rydstrands were too few and he experienced the third relegation of his career. This time, however, he remained loyal to the club and was one of the pillars of the team that managed the direct promotion. In the following two seasons in the Allsvenskan he was unlucky and injured several times. After a serious knee injury, he had to end his first division career in 1982 and let his career end at the amateur club Spånga IS .

Rydstrand was motivated by his injuries to train as a chiropractor . He stayed in this profession until 1992 before he went into business for himself as an equestrian entrepreneur.
