Olan Soulé
Olan Evart Soulé (born February 28, 1909 in La Harpe , Illinois , † February 1, 1994 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor and voice actor .
Life
Olan Soulé was the son of Elbert and Ann Williams Soulé. He had three ancestors who came to America on the Mayflower . He grew up in Des Moines , Iowa . From 1926 he worked for 11 years as an actor for the soap opera Bachelor's Children , which was broadcast daily on the radio. From 1943 to 1949 he was almost exclusively one of the leading actors in variously performed plays that were broadcast every evening in the First Nighter series on the radio. For the final season from 1952 to 1953 he was hired again.
From the radio it went to the film. From 1949 he played in several film and television productions every year. In total, by the time he died, he had seen over 7,000 radio shows and commercials, as well as over 200 television series and over 60 films. Often, however, he only played extras or minor supporting roles that neither had a name nor were listed in the credits. Still, he has appeared in famous films such as The Day the Earth Stood Still , The Invisible Third, and The Cincinnati Kid . He played alongside actors such as Cary Grant , Steve McQueen , Richard Burton , Jack Lemmon , Doris Day and Marilyn Monroe .
Soulé achieved great fame through the synchronization of the superhero Batman in various cartoon series. After Soulé played a nameless news anchor in an episode of the popular television series Batman in 1966 , he was hired for the first time in 1968 as the voice for 17 episodes of the third season of the animated series A Job for Superman . Until 1983 he spoke it, with interruptions in which the original Batman actor Adam West took over the voice, the dark avenger. He then remained connected to the franchise, most recently becoming the voice of Professor Martin Stein, the alter ego of the superhero Firestorm.
Soulé died on February 1, 1994 at the age of 84 as a result of his lung cancer . His wife, with whom he had two children and had been married since 1929, died two years earlier. He left behind both children and a total of eight grandchildren.
