Oldřich Martinů

Oldřich Martinů (born September 16, 1965 in Humpolec , Czechoslovakia ) was the Czech police chief from 2011 to 2015 and has been the deputy director of Europol since November 1, 2011 . He heads the Governance Department and thus the Cabinet (G1), Corporate Services (G2) and Security (G5) sub-departments .

Career

In 1984 Martinů did his military service . He then attended the Police School in Prague and successfully graduated in 1986. He took his active service in Budweis ( České Budějovice on), but switched a few months later the riot police in Prague. From 1988 to 1990 he studied at the College of Police Administration and switched to the criminal police in the violent crime department.

From 1990 to 1995 Martinů studied law at the Charles University in Prague and graduated with a master's degree. In 1996 he was promoted to Police Council and headed the Organized Crime Division. From 1997 to 1999 Martinů headed the National Central Office of Interpol in Prague. From 1999 to 2002 he headed the police force in Central Bohemia and in 2002 was appointed Deputy Police President of the Czech Republic.

On June 1, 2007 Martinů was appointed President of the Czech Police. With the change of the Czech Interior Minister in 2010, a dispute with Minister Radek John began . John had accused Martinů of being too close to politics. Oldřich Martinů had to leave his post on December 31, 2010 after a government crisis, but was accepted by President Václav Klaus with the silver medal of merit . His move to Europol was sponsored by the Czech government.

As part of his duties, Martinů represented the Czech Republic at Interpol since 2002 and also at Europol from 2004 to 2007. He also represented the Czech Republic at the European Police Chiefs Task Force , which he also chaired from February 1, 2009 to June 30, 2009. Further training brought Martinů from 2000 to 01 at the European Police Academy and in 2006 to the FBI course at the National Executive Institute in Quantico .

Martinů is married and has two daughters.
