The European Police Academy ( EPA ) ( CEPOL , French C ollège E uropéen de Pol ice ) is a European institution for training the European police. As of July 1, 2016, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Education and Training (EPA) took over as her successor.

The academy was founded by the decision of the Council of European Justice and Home Affairs Ministers in 2000. It has been based in Budapest , Hungary, since November 2014 . Before that, it was based in Bramshill House in the English county of Hampshire .

The various training institutions in the Member States work together in the EPA . For Germany this is the German Police University (DHPol) in Münster-Hiltrup . The purpose of the EPA is to strengthen cooperation between national authorities in the field of crime prevention and prevention. The EPA also cooperates with national police academies outside the EU. Special cooperation is taking place with the acceding countries and with Norway and Iceland as well as the Central European Police Academy (MEPA).
