The Executive Agency for consumers, health, agriculture and food ( CHAFEA , Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency) is one of the executive agencies of the European Union . These occupy a special position among the EU agencies. They are set up by the European Commission and are tasked with managing certain programs. They are not set up permanently, but only for a limited period of time and have the same status as a Directorate General of the European Commission . The Chafea is based in Luxembourg and reports to the Directorate-General for Health and Consumers .

The legal basis for this executive agency is, on the one hand, the EU Council Regulation 58/2003 of December 19, 2002 and the Commission decision (2008/544 / EC) of June 20, 2008.

The later CHAFEA was originally founded in 2005 under the name of the Executive Agency for the Public Health Program (PHEA). On 20 June 2008, the agency was in the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC Executive Agency for Health and Consumers) renamed and their goals and objectives have been redefined. In January 2014 it was renamed Chafea.
