Oleg Ivanovich Jankowski
Oleg Iwanowitsch Jankowski ( Russian Олег Иванович Янковский , scientific transliteration Oleg Ivanovič Jankovskij ; born February 23, 1944 in Dscheskasgan , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ; † May 20, 2009 in Moscow ) was a Russian theater and film actor of the USSR , director of the USSR .
In 1965 he graduated from a theater school in Saratov and initially played at the Saratov Drama Theater . Since 1973 he worked at the Moscow Lenkom Theater in the troupe of Mark Sakharov .
Oleg Jankowski had his first film role in 1968 in the WWII drama Shield and Sword . He then appeared in over 70 film productions, including films by Andrei Tarkowski , Mark Sakharov, Igor Maslennikow and Michail Schweizer . Since 1993 Jankowski was president of the annual Russian film festival Kinotawr in Sochi .
Oleg Jankowski died on May 20, 2009 after a long illness of pancreatic cancer .
His brother is the actor Rostislaw Jankowski , who was also awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR , and his son is the film director Filipp Jankowski .
