Oleh Suk ( Ukrainian Олег Сук ; born June 26, 1965 in Ternopil , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian rock musician who mainly plays bass guitar , but also acoustic guitar and synthesizer .

Life

He began his artistic path at the Polytechnic University in Lviv with sound and bass experiments. An intensive search led him to the popular Lviv jazz band "Melodrome". The result was awards at the Crystal Lion Jazz Festival two years in a row in the late 1980s. The musician founded the art rock formation "Catharsis". The band "Tea Fan Club", which existed from 1989 to 1993, emerged from a year and a half collaboration with the guitarist Ludwig Konopko. After they broke up, Oleh created the “Ulysses” project, played the bass guitar in a band called “Glass Bead Game” and joined the band “Dead Rooster” (1992), where he still plays today.

From 1995 to 1996 he organized the literary and musical jazz formation "Lights of Big Cities" together with the composer Jurij Pokalchuk and the musician Jurkom Dudoiu.

In 2003 Oleh came into contact with "Black September" as part of his own project ... but the time as a river ... The group was exactly on his wavelength and he started as a keyboard player. There was a new start for the group under the name “Gorgisheli”.

Own projects

1995: The "IS" project was an attempt to capture the Lviv music of that time. About 50 people were involved. Oleh wrote the music, the lyrics came from the poets Bohdan Lepkyj , Bohdan-Ihor Antonytsch , Wassyl Patschowskyj and Oleksandr Kandyba . Musicians and bands who were already well known at the time were involved in the album recordings: “Platsch Jeremiji” and Taras Tschubai , “Dead Rooster”, “Tea Fan Club”, “999”, the band members of “The Brothers” Hadjukin "and the debutants Okean Elsy , Lesya Gerasimchuk and" Royal rabbits "," Pikardijska Terzija "," Monuments of Architecture "and" Ruslana ".

2003: ... but the time as a river ... continuation of the "IS" project. Participating composers were: Jurij Andruchowytsch , Jurij Pokalchuk, Ihor Rymaruk, Kostja Moskalez. Some of the musical newcomers of 1995 (“Okean Elzy”, “Pikardijska Terzija”, “Ruslana”) are now big stars of the Ukrainian show business. Other newcomers involved (“Godo”, “Black September”, Yurko Lavrin, Svitlana Kyrylchuk) gave the project new life and added new compositions.
