Olifr M. Guz

Olifr M. Guz was - like GUZ - the artist name of the Swiss Oliver Maurmann (born December 2, 1967 in Konstanz ; † January 19, 2020 in Zurich ). GUZ was a singer, songwriter and front man for the aeronauts .

He sang in Standard German, in Swiss German and occasionally in English or French. He played with different music genres such as fun punk, soul, rock pop, ska and country. He was with the music groups "Averells", "PSOZ", "Fred's Friends", "The Hunchbacks", the Aeronauts, "The Buffalo Ballet", "Chabis!", "Raumpatrouille Rimini", the "Fred's Friends Revival Band" as well " The future " involved. GUZ was also involved in obscure rock'n'roll projects ("The Zorros", "Jerry J. Nixon", "Zeno Tornado"). With the electro blues duo Naked in English Class (Olifr M. Guz and Taranja Wu), founded in 2015 , he appeared in several Swiss city clubs and festivals between 2017 and 2019 and released four albums on the Zurich independent label Ikarus Records . Guz also played a few concerts with the aeronauts in Switzerland in 2019.

In addition to several MCs and LPs, Guz released four solo CDs produced in their own recording studio “Star Track” in Schaffhausen .

In the SRF- Mundart series Güsel (2014-2015), Oliver Maurmann played the waste detective Oli at Gabriel Vetter's side .

On the album Who can suffer me comes with the German ska band Frau Doktor is the song Guz e. V. dedicated to him and in the song Musik on the album Penner Superdisco you can hear Guz talking about music.

Guz was the cameraman for the short film Pocket Rocket (2013) by Walter Feistle, and I am the cameraman for the soundtrack of the documentary film Gentrification. He contributed the song Primitive to the confession of a sinister .

Guz died in January 2020 at the University Hospital Zurich at the age of 52 from complications from a heart attack , after waiting in vain for a donor heart for several years.
