Oliver Holzbecher (born September 25, 1970 in West Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .

Club career

Holzbecher played in his youth at the Berlin club SC Staaken . In 1988 he moved to Hertha BSC's A-youth team . In the same season he made his debut under Werner Fuchs for the men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga , when he came on as a substitute on the last day of the game in the final phase of the away game against Fortuna Köln . While Hertha managed to get promoted to the Bundesliga in the 1989/90 season , it was not used at all by the professionals and was only used by the amateurs. When they surprisingly reached the final of the DFB Cup in 1992/93 , he was an important part of this team and also played the final, which was ultimately lost 1-0 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Only at the end of the 1993/94 season did Holzbecher return to the field of vision of the professionals and played six games after Karsten Heine had taken over as coach. In 1994/95 Heine only used it three times.

Then Holzbecher turned her back on Hertha and switched to the Reinickendorfer Füchsen . He stayed there for three years before joining FC Spandau 06 in 1998 . He played in Spandau until the end of his career in 2006.

International career

Oliver Holzbecher was used for both the U-15 and the U-18 in Germany.
