Oliver Komarek (born June 3, 1986 in Heidelberg ) is a former German basketball player . He played for USC Heidelberg and BG Karlsruhe in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA .

Athletic career

At the age of 13, Komarek switched from football to basketball. He quickly experienced a steep rise and matured into an U16 national player after a short time. He moved from SG Mannheim to USC Heidelberg. After a year-long interlude with the Kaiserslautern Braves, Komarek returned to USC in 2008. With an average of 16.8 points and 5.5 rebounds, he was one of the high-flyers of the 2. Bundesliga ProA and after the 2008/09 season was selected by the basketball service “Eurobasket.com” as the player who had the best development during the season.

Germany's national coach Dirk Bauermann appointed him to the twelve-man squad of the A2 national team in 2009. With this team Komarek took part in the Universiade 2009 in Belgrade (Serbia). Here he achieved the best field throw rate with 57 percent and the best three-person rate with 54 percent and reached eighth place with the German team.

After the 2012/13 season, Komarek left USC Heidelberg . He moved to the 2. Bundesliga ProB to the BIS Baskets Speyer . After eight games he moved to the BG Karlsruhe in the ProA. The club rose from the league at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Komarek, who completed a degree in business administration, joined the sports agency nummer ten GmbH & Co. KG in 2015 , which advises and markets basketball, handball and soccer professionals, among other things.
