Life

After graduating from high school, Oliver Pötzsch attended the German School of Journalism in Munich from 1992 to 1997 . He then worked for Bayerischer Rundfunk , initially in the radio department, and later for the weekly television program across the board. In addition, Pötzsch produced television reports on Cuba , South Africa , Vietnam and other countries for the Bayerischer Rundfunk's leisure magazine. Oliver Pötzsch has been working full-time as an author since 2013.

In addition to his professional activity, Pötzsch researched his family history. He is a descendant of the Kuisls , who were a well-known executioner dynasty in Schongau from the 16th to the 19th century . This research resulted in eight historical novels about the Schongau hangman Jakob Kuisl and his daughter Magdalena. The Ludwig Conspiracy was published in 2011 in the 125th year of death of the Bavarian King Ludwig II . The detective novel takes place on two time levels - in the time of Ludwig II and in the present - and describes the discovery of the diary of a confidante of King Ludwig. In his historical novel The Castle of the Kings from 2013 he made the legendary Stauferburg Trifels the focus of the action.

With Knight Kuno Kettenstrumpf , Pötzsch published his first children's book in 2014 , and in 2015 his first youth book The Black Musketeers - The Book of the Night , a historical adventure story at the time of the Thirty Years War.

In his 2016 book Meine Kur hat eine Schatten. How I survived rehab after a heart operation despite country evenings and beer dealers , the author wrote down his experiences in rehab, which he had to visit a few years ago to regenerate after a bypass operation. The book shows rehab in all its facets, from the funny and absurd moments to the serious aspects.

In 2018, the historical novel Der Spielmann was the first volume of a planned Faustus saga . The second volume in the series about the historical Johann Georg Faustus followed in 2019 under the title Der Lehrmeister .

Pötzsch's books have appeared in more than 20 countries, including China, the USA and Russia. More than 3 million books and e-books have been sold worldwide. In addition, Oliver Pötzsch is the first German-speaking author whose English-language licensed editions of his Hangman's Daughter series have sold over 1 million copies at the US publisher Amazon Publishing.

In his spare time he sings in the soul band "Jamasunited" and in various other music projects.
