Olivier Anders

Olivier Anders (born October 16, 1942 in Pethau ) was major general of the National People's Army (NVA) of the German Democratic Republic .

biography

The son of a coppersmith began after twelve years of schooling in basic subjects in 1957 an apprenticeship as a company and transport railroader, which he completed in 1960. He then worked for a year as a shunter and shunting manager with the Deutsche Reichsbahn , before joining the NVA on April 5, 1961 as a soldier in the "Friedrich Engels" guard regiment . Between 1961 and 1965 he was an officer student at the officers' college of the land forces "Ernst Thälmann" and in 1962 he joined the SED . This was followed by assignments as platoon leader and from 1967 to 1969 as company commander in the Motorized Rifle Regiment 17 " Fritz Weineck " in Halle . Then followed until 1972 as an officer for operational work in the staff of the 11th Motorized Rifle Division (11th MSD) . Thereupon took place from 1972 to 1976 a study at the General Military Academy of the Soviet Armed Forces MW Frunze , which he graduated with the academic degree of a diploma military scientist.

After his return from the USSR he was again employed in the Motorized Rifle Regiment 17 "Fritz Weineck", where he was deputy commander and chief of staff for one year before he was in command of the motorized rifle regiment 16 " Robert Uhrig " from 1977 to 1980 . This was followed by a position as deputy commander and chief of training for the 11th MSD. After studying at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR from 1982 to 1984, he returned to the 11th MSD, where he was first Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff and then finally as the successor to Major General Klaus Wiegand in the rank of Colonel himself from October 1 1986 to December 31, 1989 was commander. As such , he was appointed major general on October 7, 1988, the 39th anniversary of the founding of the GDR . On April 18, 1990 he was appointed head of the administration for civil work in the Ministry of Disarmament and Defense (MfAV) and most recently from September 15 to October 2, 1990 as chief of security in the MfAV. Immediately before the reunification of Germany , he was released on October 2, 1990, as there was no previously discussed takeover in the Bundeswehr .

In the course of his military career he was awarded the battle medal “For services to the people and fatherland” in bronze.
