Olivier Mahafaly Solonandrasana

Olivier Mahafaly Solonandrasana (born June 21, 1964 on the island of Nosy Be ) is a Malagasy politician and was Prime Minister of the Republic of Madagascar from April 13, 2016 to June 8, 2018.

Life

Various offices

Solonandrasana successfully studied philosophy at the University of Toliara , from 1989 to 1994 he was a lecturer at the same university. After entering politics, he was appointed sub-prefect and president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Nosy Be in 1999, a post he held until 2002. From 2003 to 2004 he was sub-prefect of the Boeny region , in 2005 he rose to Secretary General of the region, in 2006 he was transferred to the Toliara region.

In 2009 Solonandrasana was director of the area administration and head of a cooperation project with UNICEF in the Ministry of the Interior. He held his most important post of interior minister from 2014 to 2016.

As prime minister

After the surprising resignation of the then Prime Minister Jean Ravelonarivo and his entire cabinet on April 8, 2016, President Hery Rajaonarimampianina Solonandrasana sworn in on April 13 as the new Prime Minister of Madagascar. In his inaugural address, the newly elected head of government promised to focus his work on fighting poverty and corruption. He will also act against the looting of natural resources .

On January 24, 2017, Solonandrasana, together with President Hery Rajaonarimampianina, received Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine . The meeting was about intensifying relations between the two countries.

On June 4, 2018, Solonandrasana announced his resignation from the Prime Minister's office. On June 6, 2018, he was replaced by Christian Ntsay .
