Guy Razanamasy

Guy Willy Razanamasy (born December 19, 1928 in Antananarivo , † May 17, 2011 ) was a Malagasy politician .

biography

Razanamasy was a pharmacist and manufacturer of medicines before becoming director of the Pharmacological Society COFARMA . In the 1980s, as a candidate for the unity party Action pour la Renaissance de Madagascar (AREMA), he became mayor of Antananarivo for the first time .

On August 8, 1991, Razanamasy became Prime Minister and held this office until he was replaced by Francisque Ravony on August 9, 1993. Razanamasy took office at a time of emerging unrest which was marked by uprisings. However, Razamasy came closer to the opposition led by Albert Zafy and signed the état provisoire de transition pour la troisième république , the basis for the renaming of the state in the Republic of Madagascar on September 12, 1992.

Later he was again mayor of Antananarivo between 1994 and 1999 and during this time ran as a candidate for the Confederation of Civil Societies for Development in the presidential elections on November 3, 1996. But he only achieved the eighth place with 42,873 votes and 1.19 percent Place in the first round.
