Christophe Laurent Roger Kolo (born September 3, 1943 in Belo sur Tsiribihina ) is a Malagasy medic and was Prime Minister of Madagascar from April 11, 2014 to January 12, 2015 .

Life

Kolo Roger, as he is called according to the Malagasy custom that follows the first name, was born as the son of a post office clerk and later mayor of Morondava .

After graduating from the Jesuit school in Antananarivo , he studied at the University of Antananarivo and the University of Geneva , where he received his diploma in medicine in 1982 . In the following years he worked as an assistant doctor at the University Hospital in Geneva and specialized in radiology , on which he also obtained his doctorate. In 1997 he opened a private radiology laboratory, which was followed by a second laboratory in 2001. Kolo is a member of the Swiss Society for Radiology and the French Society for Radiology.

In 2013 Kolo returned to Madagascar to run in the upcoming presidential election. His candidacy was rejected by the electoral court, however, because he had not spent the required full six months in the country before the election date. He then joined the political movement of candidate Hery Rajaonarimampianina , who was elected president in the second ballot. On April 11, 2014, Kolo was appointed Prime Minister by the President of Madagascar. Kolo resigned from office on January 12, 2015.

Private

Roger Kolo is married and has three children. In addition to the Malagasy nationality, he also has Swiss citizenship .
