Oljanyzja ( Ukrainian Оляниця ; Russian Оляница Oljaniza ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Vinnytsia with about 1200 inhabitants.
Oljanyzja is the administrative center of the 2.9 km² district council of the same name, which also includes the Ladyshynske ( Ладижинське , ⊙ ) settlement with around 100 inhabitants, with a train station and a feed production plant .
The village, founded in the late 15th century, is located in the north of Trostyanets district on the banks of the Neteka ( Neteka ), a 10.5 km long right tributary of the Southern Bug and on the regional road P-33 between the city of Lyshyn and 10 km north the 13 km south of Trostyanets district center . The Vinnytsia Oblast Center is located about 115 km northwest of Olyanytsia.
Chicken fattening and protest
One of the largest poultry farming facilities in Europe is located in the village . The major Ukrainian corporation "Вінницької птахофабрики" (German: Vinnyzja Geflügel) operates twelve stables in the village, each of which fattening 1.5 million chickens and slaughtering them in the company's own slaughterhouse.
The intended expansion of production caused numerous protests among the village population, as they feared a further increase in water pollution , soil pollution , odor and noise pollution as well as the destruction of the houses by vibrations caused by the numerous trucks driving through the village.
The German-language documentary Das Dorf und der Hühnerkönig - An Unequal Struggle in Ukraine was made on the arte television station about the conditions of the chicken farming there and the protest of the population against the poultry breeding company and the municipal authorities .
