career

As the son of the chamber councilor and later pronotarius of the Berlin criminal court, Johann Christian Tieffenbach , he studied law in Frankfurt an der Oder and Jena from April 1727 to April 1738 .

From 1738 to 1742 he was active as a criminal adviser in Berlin and on November 14, 1742 , if requested, he succeeded Privy Councilor von Bock in the college of the Upper Computing Chamber . For this he had to pay the recruiting fund 2000 thalers. His father, who had entered the General Computing Chamber as Privy Councilor in 1717, was with the same college until his death and was ennobled by Friedrich Wilhelm I on September 21, 1737 . After the death of his father, Christian Ludwig requested his venia aetatis ( age of majority ) on February 14, 1743.

On February 25, 1764, King Friedrich II appointed him President of the Upper Computing Chamber for his deceased predecessor Joachim Friedrich Resen . At the same time he received the title of secret finance councilor and a salary of 880 thalers. However, he lost his post on May 30, 1768 to the king's favorite, Johann Rembert Rode , with whom the presidential position of the upper arithmetic chamber was shared by the king. While Roden received the first presidential post, von Tieffenbach worked under him as second president until his death in August 1776.
