With the III. At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , there was a one-time competition in the sport of roque , a variant of croquet . Only four players from the USA took part. The competition is still considered an Olympic and not a national championship, as foreigners would have been eligible to participate. The games took place on the infield of Francis Field Stadium, everyone played twice against each other.
