The sailing competition in the Finn Dinghy (in English for the first time as one person heavyweight dinghy ) at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London was held from July 29th to August 5th at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy . 24 athletes took part.

The competition was carried out in eleven regattas ( Fleet Race ). The first ten races were completed by all starters. Points were awarded for the number of places. In the final bill, the worst placement was deleted. The ten sailors with the lowest number of points qualified for the medal race. The previous points have been retained, but the placement points for the medal race have been doubled.

The sailor in question received 25 points for false starts (OCS = on course side) and termination of the race (DNF). Even with disqualifications (DSQ) the starter got 25 points. In addition, the jury was able to distribute penalty points (DPI = Discretionary Penalty Imposed) during the race.
