Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy
The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is a sailing center on the island of Portland off the coast of Weymouth in Dorset on the south coast of England . The sailing area includes the waters off Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbor .
In addition to a yacht club with anchorages for private boats, the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy also offers boat rental and is intended to make sailing possible for school classes and those interested and also serves as a training center. It has existed since 2000 and has hosted international regattas and world championships several times.
The sailing competitions were held here at the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2012 Paralympics . Most of the facilities were already there. Only a new tug and new anchorages had to be built. During the Olympic Games, spectators could watch the regattas from the bank. No grandstands were planned.
