The Riverbank Arena is a hockey stadium in London . It was located in the Homerton district ( London Borough of Hackney ), in the north-west of the Olympic Park .
The stadium was a venue for the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2012 Paralympics . The temporary facility offered 16,000 spectators. The hockey competitions were held here during the Olympic Games and the 5-a-side football and 7-a-side football competitions at the Paralympics . The artificial turf pitch was blue and the safety zone was pink. This color combination is unusual, traditionally hockey is played on a green field.
In addition to the main square, the Riverbank Arena included a warm-up area for around 300 spectators. After the competitions, the stadium was reduced to a capacity of 5,000 spectators and relocated to Eton Manor in the northern part of the Olympic Park. It was then renamed the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Center and hosted other international hockey events such as the 2015 European Men's Championship and the 2018 Women's World Championship .
