Kyrgyzstan participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi with an athlete. Originally, Dmitri Trelewski had qualifiedfor the alpine ski competition. He carried the flag at the opening ceremony. In a training accident, however, Trelewski was seriously injured so that he could not start in the competition. Kyrgyzstan then nominated Yevgeny Timofejew for the alpine ski competitions.
