Omapere is a settlement in the Far North District of the Northland regionon the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is located around 64 km northwest of Dargaville and around 40 km west-southwest of Kaikohe on the south bank of Hokianga Harbor, which flows into the Tasman Sea . The New Zealand State Highway 12 runs through the settlement and connects the neighboring settlement Opononi to the north in a short way. To the southeast, Dargaville can be reached via the Highway .
population
In the 2013 census, Omapere and Opononi had 414 inhabitants, 13.2% less than in the 2006 census. The proportion of the population in Omapere was 59.4% or 246 inhabitants.

In addition to agriculture, tourism plays an important role in the settlement.

The white sandy beach of the settlement and its surroundings offers good opportunities for swimming, fishing and boating for those looking for vacation.
Attractions
In the settlement there is a small museum on the history of Hokianga Harbor and at the southern part of the entrance to the natural harbor there is an old signal station and a good viewpoint from Pakia Hill of Hokianga Harbor and its surroundings.
Two recreation areas, the Arai-Te-Uru Recreation Reserve and the Ti Pikinga Scenic Reserve are under protection.
