Omar Alieu Koroma (born October 22, 1989 in Banjul ) is a Gambian football player who plays for Dulwich Hamlet .

Career

society

Omar Koroma played with the Hawks Banjul from 2007 to 2008 in his homeland of Gambia . In October 2007 he completed a trial session at the English club Watford FC . In Watford he impressed with his performance, but was not able to get a work permit. He also trained at Southampton FC , but he did not get a contract there either. In July 2008 he had a trial session with some friendship and preparation games at Portsmouth FC . He made an impression there too and was offered a permanent contract. This time he got the work permit because he married an English partner.

Shortly after signing the contract, Norwich City sought a loan deal with Koroma. On August 4, 2008, then-coach Harry Redknapp announced that they could come to an agreement with the Hawks Banjul , but Koroma was immediately loaned out to Norwich City for a year. He played his first game for Norwich on August 9 in the 2-0 defeat by Coventry City , where he came on as a substitute. In December 2008, he suffered a serious ankle injury, which was operated on in January 2009. He was forced to take a ten to twelve week break. He then returned to Portsmouth at the end of January, but from there only played in the reserve team and his contract was not renewed in June 2010.

In December 2010 he completed a trial training session at the Danish club Brøndby IF .

In April 2012 he trained with the Forest Green Rovers and scored the 2-1 against the reserve team from Crawley Town . In May Koroma signed a three-year deal with the Rovers. On August 27, he made his debut for the Rovers against Kidderminster Harriers , but was sent off after 34 minutes.

National team

Koroma was nominated in September 2008 as part of the qualification for the Soccer World Cup 2010 for the games on September 6 against Liberia and on October 11 against Senegal . In the 3-0 win over Liberia, he came on in the 88th minute for Njogu Demba-Nyrén . He was also used in the 1-1 draw against Senegal, this time again coming on for Demba-Nyrén in the 85th minute.
