Ondřej Hošek took part in an international biathlon race for the first time as part of the Junior World Championships 2013 in Obertilliach . In the sprint race of the youth, he was able to take 32nd place. In the individual race, which is also taking place, he was 14th. The following season he started in the IBU Cup in three individual races and achieved 47th place as the best place. At the Junior World Championships 2015 Hošek was always able to achieve a placement among the top 30. In the sprint he ran to 20th place and with the relay to 6th place. At the Junior Summer Biathlon World Championships that took place in the same year , he won silver with the Czech mixed relay.
In the 2015/16 season , Hošek reached the podium in an IBU Cup race for the first time with a third place in the individual. At the Junior World Championships of the same season he won silver with relay. At the Junior Summer Biathlon World Championships in 2016 , he won his first individual medal in the sprint and narrowly missed the podium with a fourth place in the subsequent pursuit. The Czech athletes won the mixed relay competition this year and won gold.
In the following season 2016/17 , Hošek started regularly in the IBU Cup and finished 78th in the overall ranking. He also took part in the European Biathlon Championships for the first time this season . In the individual he was 56th and was able to qualify with a 45th place in the sprint for the pursuit race, in which he improved to 31st place. At the end of the season in Otepää he reached 9th place in the single-mixed relay competition. At the beginning of the following season , this result could be improved to 8th place in both Sjusjön and Lenzerheide . In the overall ranking of the IBU Cup he reached 29th place this season.
In January 2018 , Hošek started in the biathlon world cup for the first time . He started in Oberhof as well as in Ruhpolding in the relay and reached a 14th and an 8th place. In the individual race in Ruhpolding, however, he clearly missed the points with a 67th place.
