Online Soccer Manager (also abbreviated OSM) is a soccer manager from the game developer Gamebasics .

The aim of the game is to lead a club to success in the role of a manager . You play against each other in leagues, which the player can also found together with other players.

The online game provides the player including the possibility available to make the squad with skillful purchase and sale of players, as well as the preparation and tactics adapt.

Gameplay

season

The respective player can either found his own league at the beginning of a season or join an already active one. There are several real national leagues to choose from (including the Bundesliga , Premier League , Primera División ), as well as fewer leagues with real teams created by the developer. The seasons do not take place in parallel.

You can also take over a team in the middle of the season.

If not all teams in a league are taken over by human managers, this is done by the computer . But this one is usually easier to beat than another player.

At the beginning of a season there are three preparation days in which there are no league games. On these days the manager is supposed to train, line up and sell or buy his players.

Then the league phase begins. The game is always played back and forth, there is only one game per day (mostly in the evening). During this phase, however, the transfer market remains open, which contradicts the real football world.

In addition, a trophy will take place parallel to the league. The moderator can, however, switch it off.

After the season, the training progress , squad changes and the club budget are postponed and the player has to look for a new league.

Manager points

With every game played you can win or lose so-called manager points. The total number of manager points is then counted at the end of the season and the individual human managers are sorted according to this in a table.

In addition, the number of manager points across the seasons determines the place in the overall ranking.

If you win, you gain manager points, whereas a win against another human manager earns more points than one against the computer. If you lose, you lose it; here, defeats against human-managed teams are not as negative as those against the computer.

Lineup

Before each game you have to determine the line-up. You can choose the right one from 24 different formations . Then you can put the different players in their positions.

The starting line-up is influenced by three factors: player values, fitness and morale. There are also one-off factors such as bans and injuries.

Each player has three different values: defense, attack and total strength, which are all marked by a number. The rule here is: the higher the number, the better the player. The total strength is only the mean value between defense and attack strength, which depend on the individual ability of the player.

Players lose fitness with every bet. This can lead to injury in the long term. After a suspended game, the player has regained full fitness.

In return, with every suspended game, the morale of the players drops, which affects their performance on the pitch. After a mission the player has full morale again.

The players are also divided into four different categories: goalkeeper (TH), defender (Ver), midfielder (Mit), and striker (Stü). The words in brackets are the abbreviations of the categories used in the game.

Seven substitutes can be assigned to the eleven players in the line-up, two per player category, with only one substitute goalkeeper.

Course of the game

The manager has no access to his team during the game. He cannot change tactics or line-up.

The server plays the so-called match among itself. This means that you cannot read the game report during the game. In most cases, the stronger one wins, but this is not necessarily the case. It takes about 15 minutes to simulate the game.

At the end of the game you receive the game report. In addition, when you log in for the first time after the game, a live ticker starts where you can experience the events of the game "live".

training

The players can be trained regularly every season. There is a goalkeeper, defensive, midfield and striker coach who is available at the beginning of the season.

The duration of a training is eight hours, with Boss Coins you can also skip the waiting time.

Younger and worse players train faster than older and better ones. The players can improve by up to one overall strength point per training session.

Players who are training cannot be fielded, but this is possible on the substitutes' bench.

Sub-account

With a sub-account (a maximum of three are possible), the player can manage a second club at the same time as another. Before the update in May 2016 you would have to activate it with keys .

Update

In May 2016, the game was fundamentally redesigned. It got a clearer menu and a new premium currency. The game also got official logos and player faces.

Before the update, the game was only playable on the browser. In addition, there were so-called keys at that time , which the player could either buy for real money or earn by watching advertisements. After the update, there was gold, which players can still purchase for real money, receive via offers, or get free in packs of 2 every five hours.
