Oostmahorn ( West Frisian De Skâns ) is a small village in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân in the Dutch province of Friesland . It is located northeast of Dokkum on the Lauwersmeer and has 80 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).
The ferries to Schiermonnikoog drove from here to the dikes for the Lauwerszee . In addition, there was a rescue station of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij (KNRM) in Oostmahorn . In 1961 a small port, which is now used as a marina , was built on the Lauwersmeer for Oostmahorn .
As a village, Oostmahorn is still relatively young, because it was not until November 22, 2007 that the municipality of Dongeradeel, to which the place belonged until 2019, decided to give Oostmahorn village status. Before that it was part of Anjum as a hamlet .
