The Opština Sremska Mitrovica ( Serbian - Cyrillic Општина Сремска Митровица ) is a municipality in the Serbian district of Srem . The main town of the municipality is the town of the same name Sremska Mitrovica .

Most of the community is on the left bank of the Sava , only 6 villages are south of the river.
