Lacaitas Ragwort ( Ophrys lacaitae ) is a species of Ragwurzen (Ophrys) in the orchid family (Orchidaceae). It blooms from March to July and always two to three weeks after the Schnabel-Ragwurz ( Ophrys oxyrrhynchos ).
description
In general appearance, this species resembles the Schnabel-Ragwurz. It is a herbaceous perennial plant . The sepals are colored green. The lip appears long-haired in the rear area of the wide yellow border, otherwise it is bald. The brown central area is strongly arched forward. The upright appendage is very large. The H-shaped mark is colored brown-violet with a white border.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.
Location and distribution
You can find this orchid in light shrubbery and on bushy grasslands with moderately acidic soil up to a height of 1500 m . The distribution area extends over Sicily and southern Italy , where this orchid can be found in the provinces of Potenza , Salerno , Isernia and Latina at altitudes between 50 and 1500 meters above sea level.
