Oprea vlase

Oprea Vlase (born October 27, 1927 in Buzău ; † October 13, 2011 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian handball coach .

Vlase completed his studies as a sports teacher at the Institutul de Cultură Fizică (ICF) in Bucharest in 1952 . As coach of Dinamo Bucharest, he won eight championship titles. After losing the final in the 1962/63 European Cup , he triumphed only two years later in the 1964/65 European Cup .

Vlase was assistant and head coach of the Romanian national team . With the "Golden Generation" he was world champion at the 1961 , 1964 , 1970 and 1974 world championships. With the Olympics in 1972 in Munich he won the bronze and in 1976 in Montreal the silver medal.

Oprea Vlase was awarded the national “Serviciul Credincios” (first class) medal in 2000. In 2009 he was awarded the "Meritul Sportiv" (first class) medal.

Oprea Vlase died in Bucharest on October 13, 2011.
